The consortium members:
The Uspenskoe Foundation for Innovations in Culture and Art is a unique space built on the synergy of art and capital. The project mission is to develop and support the ideas of Russian contemporary art and culture.
The Foundation program content consists of four main components: an inclusive art school, an auction house, a club for patrons and collectors, and a grant residence.
The architectural concept is based on the principles of careful preservation, immersiveness and interactivity of the environment. By rethinking the historical context, the authors of the project create a new cultural layer that harmonizes the space of the estate.
The second place was taken by the Consortium of .ket bureau + V bureau + Yuliya Gaponenko + Andrey Ivanov + Stanislav Guzhov (Moscow, Russia).
The consortium members:
The territory of Uspenskoe Castle is located on lands known since ancient times of a rich historical and cultural significance. The lavish layers of history that formed this place echo in our vision of the development of the estate complex. We base our method on the principle of “vitalization”, the principle of treating a site like a living organism. From this perspective, the organism has its “heart” – this castle, there will be a “head” – the existing former medical building which will be transformed into an innovative educational cluster. According to the concept, there will also be: a “body” – pavilions performing different functions in the forest area, a “soul” – a girdling path that penetrates the entire forest and becomes a pier at the end of the path to connect the river and the territory. The entire development concept is based on the idea of maximum care of the existing landscape and the buildings. That is why all the pavilions, paths, ground floor, forum, pier, etc. are non-capital wooden structures, and the former medical building “dresses up” in a non-capital “necklace” mimicking the surrounding landscaping.
The third place was shared by the Consortium of HORA + Institute of Urban Social Development + Gravity Communication Agency and INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPANT NOWADAYS OFFICE (NOWADAYS OOO) (Moscow, Russia).
The consortium members:
We propose to convert the Uspenskoe Estate into a space where the traditions of the past will get a modern twist. We want to be inspired by history to create the future bridging different epochs and disciplines for new cultural projects. The estate will become a creative center with an emphasis on education and exhibition activities being open to people of all ages. We propose to support the best creators, add social value, experiment and share experiences. Workshops, including digital ones, will be an important element to develop creative skills and sustainable cultural activity.
INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPANT: NOWADAYS OFFICE (NOWADAYS OOO)
The Quadrivium project is inspired by the fabulous architecture of the estate castle and turns the estate park into a magical forest. The medical building built in the Modernist style is transformed into an innovative educational center with a cyber-club in it, and a great number of unique educational events in the refurbished park will make the Uspenskoe estate an important point of attraction not only for the residents of the district but also for Muscovites.
The project transforms the previous passage between the castle and the former medical building into a light modern bridge which becomes a symbol of the renewal of Uspenskoe and bridges the glorious past of the estate with its bright future.
