All-Russian Competition for the Development of an Architectural Concept for the New Main Building and Adjacent Territory of the Federal Research Center for Original and Promising Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Technologies

The project is implemented with the participation of key development institutions and the professional architectural community. It aims to create a new architectural image for a scientific center located in northern Moscow, in the Sokol district, and is intended to become a symbol of the development of Russian science, meeting contemporary technological, functional, and urban-planning requirements.

Competition Brief: Development of an architectural concept defining the building’s image within the urban context, its spatial layout, interior design code, and proposals for landscape and site development.

Several generations of Russian architects are participating in this competition. The best projects will be determined by a balance between bold vision and professional execution. We expect comprehensive solutions and deep elaboration from the finalists that will contribute to the development of Russian architecture.

Prize Fund:
The total prize fund amounts to RUB 14.5 million, including:
1st place — RUB 5 million
2nd place — RUB 3 million
3rd place — RUB 2 million
4th–6th places — RUB 1.5 million each

This competition goes beyond designing a single building. It is about shaping the architectural image of science as an open, modern, and socially significant field. The new building must not only meet high functional requirements but also become part of the urban fabric, creating an environment where scientific research, everyday work, and city life are in dialogue.

Stage 1 — December 16 to December 19, 2025
Stage 2 — December 19, 2025 to April 16, 2026
Final results — April 16, 2026

Representatives of the client, relevant federal authorities, and the architectural and scientific communities are involved in the competition process. During the kickoff seminar, experts and jury members presented the requirements for the site, its functional specifics, and the urban context to the participants.
