A presentation of the new architectural journal prodigest will take place in Saint Petersburg. The first issue of the publication focuses extensively on the analysis of projects that have influenced the development of Russia’s competition-based architectural practice and architecture as a whole. As one of the most striking examples, the publishers highlight the key architectural project of 2025 — the new building of the Galiasgar Kamal Theatre in Kazan, which appears on the journal’s cover.
The project, developed by a consortium led by the architectural bureau Wowhaus, won the Open International Competition operated by the International Urban Laboratory CENTER Lab. In her commentary for prodigest, Ketevan Khelaia, CEO of CENTER Lab, noted that “this competition brought global attention to the theatre, its new building, and Kazan itself.”
The journal presentation will take place on January 31 at 4:30 PM at the KLAUZURA coworking space (30 Kozhevennaya Line). The event will be held as part of a panel discussion titled “Competitions and Awards in Contemporary Architectural Practice: A Promotion Tool or an Obligation?”, which forms part of the “Only the Architect” conference. The conference is organized by the architectural bureau KLAUZURA.
The journal’s main sections and materials will be presented by Anna Martovitskaya, Editor-in-Chief of prodigest, and Sergei Georgievskii, Co-founder of the Agency for Strategic Development “CENTER”—the journal’s analytical partner—and the International Urban Laboratory CENTER Lab.
Invited participants include:
Speakers will discuss whether competitions and awards serve as effective tools for building an architect’s professional reputation and career growth, and will analyze key criteria for evaluating their practical value and return on investment.
The journal prodigest, founded by independent publishers Anna Martovitskaya and Denis Dmitrienko, began publication at the end of 2025. The print run is 1,600 copies, with a publication frequency of one issue per year.
