The VI Youth Forum "Nasledie" has ended

The VI Nasledie Youth Forum, an educational project of the Department of Cultural Nasledie of the City of Moscow, organized in partnership with leading Moscow universities, has ended in Moscow.

Its purpose is to attract the attention of specialists to the problems of restoration of cultural monuments, as well as to form their understanding that it is necessary not only to restore monuments, but also to integrate them into the space of a modern city.

As part of the business program of the Forum, discussions were held on the topic “Beautification of the historical environment: a balance of authenticity and modernity” and “Revitalization of historical monuments in the regions: challenges of modernity”.

The sessions were moderated by the head of the analytical group of the International Urban Laboratory “CENTER Lab” Maria Sedletskaya.

Modern practice makes it possible to update design approaches to the creation of architectural lighting concepts, the use of author’s small forms, and visual design of the environment. As a result, new points of attraction, tourist routes and jobs are being created.

Moscow was the first to systematically approach the implementation of a holistic approach to the management of historical urban landscapes. In this focus, cultural heritage sites are considered from the point of view of the potential of the built environment, intangible heritage, cultural diversity, socio-economic and environmental factors, as well as the values of local communities.

Consolidation of resources and knowledge about the territory makes it possible to more effectively create infrastructure for various industries, including creative ones. Territories can develop in clusters, including cultural heritage sites of different eras, from farmsteads to factory sites. There are similar projects in Moscow and in regional practice.
