PRO Restoration: Import Substitution in Restoration Materials and Technologies Exhibition Successfully Completed

On November 24–26, 2022, the Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art became a unique venue for a large-scale PRO Restoration: Import Substitution in Restoration Materials and Technologies exhibition dedicated to preservation of cultural heritage.

“Investments in heritage are investments in the future,” stressed Deputy Chairman of the Moscow City Duma Stepan Orlov at the opening ceremony.

The business program included a plenary session “Preservation of the cultural heritage objects as new points of attraction for the development of domestic tourism”, which was opened by Deputy Head of the Department of Cultural Heritage of Moscow Yulia Loginova.

Sofia Trotsenko, the founder of the Vinzavod Center for Contemporary Art, greeted the guests. Vinzavod is an inspiring example of the successful adaptation of an industrial heritage complex.

The moderator was Maria Sedletskaya, Head of the analytical group CENTER Lab.

Combining the themes of restoration, tourism and real estate management are essential tasks for the preservation of cultural heritage.

Leading experts have discussed implemented restoration projects and expected premiere openings in the coming years.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of Voskhod LLC Marina Rudneva talked about the complex reconstruction of the Central Telegraph on Tverskaya Street. It is planned to open its inner courtyard for events and lectures, as well as to create a modern underground parking lot.

Oksana Bondarenko, Deputy Director of the Museum of Transport in Moscow, shared her ambitious plans for the modernization of Konstantin Melnikov’s Garage, a famous symbol of constructivism. The new building of the former garage will house the updated Museum of Transport.

The head of the studio of SPEECH architectural bureau Alina Garnovskaya held a presentation of the Zotov Center, opened on the site of former Bakery No. 5.

Moreover, the leading experts discussed the details of the painstaking restoration of cultural heritage objects and their great potential for the development of domestic tourism.
