Excursion Zamoskvorechye and Zakanalye

The next tour of the Moscow Industrial project, prepared within the framework of the International Urban Forum, is Zamoskvorechye and Zakanalye.

It is an interesting, unique itinerary from Inna Krylova dedicated to the industrial monuments of the Golutvinskaya manufactory and the tragic fate of the merchant Nikolai Grigoriev, the head of the Sausage Factory.

During a tour we learned about the history of the largest textile enterprise in Russia, founded by Mikhail Ryabushinsky in the middle of the 19th century. Before the complex reconstruction it was called «Red Textile Workers». Now it is the Golutvinskaya Sloboda business park.

We also talked about the former sausage factory of Nikolai Grigoriev, and now the residential complex “Kadashevskaya Sloboda”, about the creations of the architect Alexander Kalmykov for the factories of the Istomins, Einem, Abrikosovs, Bakhrushins, and Ding.

Golutvinskaya Sloboda is a renovation project of the former Golutvinskaya textile manufactory, founded by P.M. Ryabushinsky in 1846. The complex, built of red brick, consists of four buildings. It perfectly combines loft, business modern, marble and a view of the Yakimanskaya embankment.  Now the business park “Golutvinskaya Sloboda” is a successful example of the withdrawal of production and adaptation of the industrial area for class A offices while maintaining the historical and cultural context, which was awarded a diploma of the International Congress for the Preservation of Industrial Heritage (TICCIH).

At the end of the 19th century, a sausage factory was built by N.G. Grigoriev, where in Soviet times there were factories producing food products.

The Moscow Industrial project has been prepared by the Government of Moscow’s Complex for Economic Policy and Moscow Industrial Relations as part of the Moscow Industrial Quarters program for the comprehensive development of former industrial zones, in partnership with the CENTER Lab International Urban Laboratory.
