International Architectural and Construction Forum «Kazanish» was held in Kazan

The forum brought together the world’s leading architects and urban planners, who discussed international cases related to urban development strategies and the preservation of their unique code, the development of natural territories, redevelopment of industrial buildings and much more.

The guests of the Forum were hosted by the G. Kamal Theater, which at the same time embodies the culture of Tatarstan and is an example of modern creative cooperation between different countries. Already, a new one is being built next to the historical theater building, the project of which won the International Competition for the Development of an architectural Concept in 2022. The operator of the Competition was the International Urban Laboratory “CENTER Lab”.

As part of the business program of the Forum, Ketevan Helaya, co-founder of the International Urban Laboratory “CENTER Lab”, moderated the session “Public Art Strategy: a systematic approach to the generation of art in the city”.

The discussion was attended by:

⁃ Marco Bravura (Italy), contemporary mosaic artist;
–Julia Bychkova , Managing Partner of the Nikola–Lenivets Art Park and the Nikola-Lenivets Bureau. Producer of the festivals Archstoyanie, Children’s Archstoyanie;
– Sabina Chagina, art director of the CSI Winery;
– Andrey Voronov, founder of the association “Arhataka” / “Nov”;
– Zhanna Belitskaya, the main artist of Kazan.

Experts discussed global examples of the implementation of a public art strategy – a plan for the creation, development and placement of works of art in an urban environment. Such strategies include defining goals and objectives, analyzing the current state, creating a database, developing a concept, engaging artists, and monitoring results.

All these elements must be combined into a systematic approach to effectively create public art in the city.
