The Construction of the New Kamal Theater To Be Finished Ahead of Schedule

Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, declared that the construction works of the new Kamal Theater are expected to be finished by the end of 2024.

It should be reminded that the area of the new Kamal Theater on the shores on the Kaban Lake is 48,824 sq.m. It will have 1,370 seats and four halls: big, eastern round, universal and chamber. The territory around the theater will be planted with trees and shrubs, 140 parking lots will be arranged nearby.

The competition Operator was the CENTER Lab International Urban Laboratory.

The consortium headed by Wowhaus (Moscow, Russia), which also includes Kengo Kuma & Associates (Tokyo, Japan), Werner Sobek AG (Germany) and Architect German Alekseevich Bakulin’s PTM (Kazan), became the winner of the competition.

The important element of the new building will be bright decorative panels in the interior call back to traditional elements of Tatar art.

The construction of the Kamal Theater started in 2023 upon the project chosen under the frameworks of the International Competition for the Development of an Architectural Concept for Galiasgar Kamal Tatarian Theater.
