Moscow Forming Its Own Centers of Attraction. Around What and How They are Created

February 26, 2024

On the Moscow information portal. CENTER published an article about the creation of clusters having centers of attraction in each district in the capital.

Clusters are territories where all vital infrastructure facilities are located: medical, educational, sports, commercial facilities. A 15-minute walk distance is a priority for this area.

Sergei Georgievskii, co-founder of the CENTER Lab International Urban Laboratory, noted that time is the most important resource nowadays. This entails the natural demand for the formation of multi-format spaces where within one city cluster, that is, within a radius of 15 pedestrian minutes, you can live, get education, work, support your longevity through sport activities, organize quality cultural leisure for yourself and your children.

An example of such cluster is development of the Luzhniki Olympic Complex with various functions combined with the aim to popularize sports and transform the historically established ensemble into a multifunctional park.
The role of such cluster is to become a catalyst for the district’s comprehensive development and spur on revitalization of urban economy.
